Another day down on the farm...

The Guard Dog and Monica are sitting at a table in the gloom at the end of the barn, looking at a white screen.

They are deep in conversation , though most of the conversational depth can be attributed to Monica.

"Will you be leaving soon Monica?"

"Yes, GD, I will be leaving tomorrow."

"Will you be coming back Monica?"

"Yes, we will talk about when I am coming back later this afternoon GD."

"OK."

The Guard Dog jumps down off his stool and wanders out into the sunlight. Monica hits acouple of keys on the keyboard and the white screen disappears and her email appears.

Monica reads her messages, returns to the white screen and whistles the dog.

He scoots in the door and jumps back up on his stool, ears pricked.

"Listen up, GD. I will be going away tomorrow for a few days."

The dog looks crestfallen.

"Who will look after me?"

Monica pats him on the head and tugs at his ears. " The Power Behind the Farm Gate will be here tomorrow and she will check on you each day."
"You mean She Who Must be Obeyed?"
"The very same person." says Monica." My advice to you GD is not to say that to her face. She might not like it."

"Can I go with you when you leave Monica? There are only two people who understand my Special Powers. You and old Grumpyboots and I would much rather be with you. I've learned so much since you've been here. You're very good at explaining things to me. "

"You're a smart dog GD. Not only do your Special Powers allow Special People to read your little doggy mind but you only have to be told things once and you never forget what you have been told. It was a lucky day for Old Grumpyboots when she found you."

GD does not look convinced.

" I am going to get us some supper now GD, yes another pizza from the freezer. I should just mention to you that I can call her Old Grumpyboots but that's a name just for us to use. Just stick to calling her the boss. OK?"

GD reluctantly agrees. Monica is such fun most of the time and there are lots of laughs most days but sometimes she can be so boringly serious.
